Kitchen Tour! Before + After

Kitchen Tour! Before + After

I'm so excited to share my kitchen with you today! We definitely invested most of our time/money into this room, and we couldn't be happier about the end result. Everything was DIY, assistance from friends, and help from our amazing brother in law Garrett who is a contractor. His craft has been an astounding help over the past year.

The day we moved in we started the demo. As you can see in the before photo, it was in rough shape. Patchy cabinets, horrible floors, and zero working appliances. Overall, the renovation took about 8 weeks! We were both working our regular full time…

The day we moved in we started the demo. As you can see in the before photo, it was in rough shape. Patchy cabinets, horrible floors, and zero working appliances. Overall, the renovation took about 8 weeks! We were both working our regular full time jobs, in addition to working on the kitchen before and after work. We were exhausted! I'm so glad it's finished!!

Shortly after beginning the renovation we realized we needed custom cabinets. The most budget friendly thing to do was to go with fake wood, which we didn't want to do because they don't last nearly as long. So we went with the real deal, and saved around $500 putting them together ourselves :) it was kind of a pain, but allowed us to invest in other areas.

Our entire kitchen was "knotty pine" which is incredibly tough to work with. We ended up ripping it down and replacing this wall with dry wall so we could add some texture with square subway tiles.

We loved the idea of open shelving. We are trying to adapt to a minimalist lifestyle, so we didn't need much cabinet space. We made our shelves out of galvanized pipe that we sprayed gold, and white pre-treated wood.

This faucet was the item I was the most excited about! I had seen them in magazines and Pinterest and could not wait to add one to our home. I found ours on Amazon for $105!

For our countertops we decided to go with butcher block. It only cost around $220, and is extremely durable, and the stain we chose created the perfect amount of debth to the room. We are super happy with them!

we carried the gold accents through out the house with the hardware on the cabinets. It took me a while to find the perfect ones that weren't super expensive:) I found these on Amazon!

We added these floating shelves a few months ago. They are the perfect place for plants and coffee accessories :)Β
